The obtained products were characterized via X ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy and atomic absorption spectroscopy. Their photo-Fenton catalytic activities were investigated by the degradation of methylene blue under irradiation in the presence of oxalate. The results showed that Fe2O3/perlite catalysts exhibited not only a good efficiency in the degradation of methylene blue but also floated on water which helped to separate the catalyst out off the studied solution. The catalyst obtained by the FeC2O4 precipitate, with stacked rod-shaped Fe2O3 particles and higher degree of crystallization helped to adhere well to the perlite rock, thereby increasing the Fe3+ content on the catalyst surface and consequently providing higher catalytic activity than the one prepared by the Fe(OH)3 precipitate. Moreover, after 3 times of recovery and reuse, the catalytic activity of the sample slightly decreased. This promises for further practical applications. ER -
